NEXUS IN MONTRÉAL

"It’s not so often that a group portrays a definite feeling from the first note. In the case of this group from the very start you can feel the positive vibrations between the musicians. That is a by–product of love and mutual respect which the members of NEXUS offer to each other and inevitably to the listener. A joyous outing for sure."

These are the words from the legendary saxophonist David Liebman about the critically acclaimed and very popular group NEXUS

NEXUS - one of the first Swedish jazz groups to perform at all the major Canadian jazz festivals.
The album "NEXUS in Montréal" is a recording from their successful appearance at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal 1986 and includes the entire concert including the encore, without any changes or editing.

The Swedish jazz group NEXUS performed more than 1000 concerts in many parts of the world during a period of more than twenty years.

The group consisted of:

Jörgen Nilsson († 2002) was an original member of Nexus. He also was a member of the Thad Jones Eclipse and for many years he was the leader of Eslöv's Big Band, which later became Monday Night Big Band. Jörgen Nilsson's last project was the quintet Sweet Sound.

Håkan Rydin also was a member of Nexus from the start until the group was dissolved. Later he performed around the world for 15 years with the American singer Kim Parker (daughter of Charlie Parker). In recent years, he has focused on his trio. Håkan's latest double CD "Melodies…" (AdOpen 18-002) from 2019 was selected as the tenth best piano album by American Jazz Station.

Ulf Rådelius was bassist in Nexus and later in Håkan Rydin trio. He has worked and toured with the Italian pianist Tony Pancella since the 90's. He initiated and for many years was the head of the jazz program at Skurup's folk high school. Rådelius has also served as jazz producer at Swedish National Radio and as jazz producer at Musik i Syd. Nowadays he runs the record company AdOpen.

Anders Lagerlöf has been a professional drummer since his teens. At first he was a member of the pop group Namelosers which was one of the most noticed pop bands in the 60's, but soon he invested entirely in jazz. In addition to Nexus, he played for many years with the Tolvan Big Band, the Mike Falana Quintet and in recent years with the Jazzin 'Jacks.
